Terms of Service

Effective October 17, 2026

In short

  • Crunch Time sends you one alert when a game of a team you follow is nearly over. It is free to use, and you must be at least 13.
  • Alerts depend on a third-party sports data feed and on your phone's push service. They can be late, missing or wrong. Don't bet or make decisions on them.
  • Crunch Time is not affiliated with the NBA, the NFL, any team or any broadcaster. Team names and logos belong to their owners.
  • Use the app for yourself, don't abuse it, and leave whenever you like by deleting your account.
  • We provide the Service as is, and our liability is limited as far as the law allows.

1. These terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Jason McDermott, who runs Crunch Time as an individual ("Crunch Time", "we", "us"). They cover the website at crunchtimealerts.com (and any other address we serve it from), the version of the app you add to your home screen, the alerts we send to your devices and the emails we send to your address (together, the "Service").

By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service. Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we use it; it is part of these terms.

2. Who can use Crunch Time

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the permission of a parent or guardian. The Service is designed for fans in the United States; its broadcast information covers US networks and streaming services only. You may use it from anywhere it is legal to do so.

3. Your account

  • Your email address is your account. There is no password: to sign in, we email you a 6-digit code and a link: the link signs you in on whatever device opens it, the code only in the browser that asked for it. Anyone who can read your email can sign in as you, so keep your email account secure.
  • One account per email address. Keep your account for yourself; don't share it or sign in as someone else.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account. A signed-in device stays signed in for 90 days from its last use; you can sign out of a device from its own Settings screen, and deleting your account signs out every device. If you think someone else has used your account, email us.
  • You can request a limited number of sign-in codes per hour; this protects your address from abuse.

4. What Crunch Time does, and what it does not

The Service sends you one alert per game when a followed team's game reaches the time you chose (5, 10 or 15 minutes of regulation game clock left), and shows you a scoreboard and a game overview with where to watch. That is all it does. What you should know:

  • The data isn't ours. Schedules, clocks, scores and broadcast information come from a third-party sports data feed, which we check about every 20 seconds while games are live. The feed updates when a play is logged, not every second, so it can lag the real game by a minute or two, and it can be wrong.
  • Alerts are best effort. An alert normally arrives within a minute or two of the moment. It can arrive later, or not at all: the feed can have gaps or go down, your phone can be asleep or offline, your phone's push service can delay or drop messages, and iPhones in particular can hold notifications while idle. Alerts can also be wrong when the feed is wrong. There is no alert in overtime, and none for a game that had already passed your chosen time when you followed the team or changed the timing.
  • Where to watch is a hint. The networks and streaming services shown are the feed's; they may be incomplete or wrong, and whether you can actually watch depends on where you are, your provider and your subscriptions. The scoreboard shows the feed's last state, not a live clock.
  • It's information, not advice. Crunch Time is not a betting or wagering service and offers no advice of any kind. Don't rely on it for anything where timing or accuracy matters to you, such as a wager, a contest or a deadline.
  • It may change. The Service is an early version; features and data may be incomplete. We may change, pause or discontinue any feature or the whole Service at any time. The Service is free; we don't promise any level of availability.

5. Notifications and email

Alerts are push notifications, which you turn on per device by choice; your browser asks for the permission, and you can turn alerts off on any device at any time (the Privacy Policy says how). By creating an account you agree to receive the emails needed to sign you in, and occasional emails about Crunch Time itself; you can opt out of the latter by emailing us. Any data or carrier charges for using the Service are yours.

6. Acceptable use

Use the Service for yourself, as intended. Don't:

  • break the law, or use the Service to help anyone else break it;
  • access or try to access another person's account or data;
  • scrape, crawl, copy or bulk-collect the Service's content or data, or use the Service as a feed for anything else;
  • probe, interfere with, overload or disrupt the Service, its hosting or its security, or reverse engineer any part of it;
  • use automated tools to create accounts or request sign-in codes;
  • resell, redistribute or commercially exploit alerts, data or any part of the Service;
  • pretend to be us or anyone else, or misrepresent your relationship with anyone.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these rules.

7. Not affiliated; trademarks

Crunch Time is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the NBA, the NFL, any team, league, player, network or streaming service. Team names, league names and team logos are the trademarks of their owners and appear in the Service only to identify the games they play in. Network and streaming service names appear only to say where a game airs.

Game data comes from a third-party provider and is subject to that provider's terms and availability.

8. Our content and your license

The Service, its design, its code, and the Crunch Time name and logo belong to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service as these terms allow. Don't copy, modify, distribute or create derivative works from any part of it, except what your browser does to show it to you. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.

9. Third-party services

The Service relies on services we don't control: your browser and its push service (Apple, Google, Mozilla or Microsoft), your email provider, and the networks and streaming services it names. Each has its own terms and policies. We are not responsible for them, for their availability, or for what you do on them.

10. Ending things

You can stop using the Service at any time, and you can delete your account from Settings whenever you like; the Privacy Policy says what that removes.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we shut the Service down. If we shut it down, we will try to let you know by email beforehand. Sections 4, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13 and 14 survive the end of these terms.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, timeliness, availability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We don't warrant that alerts will be delivered, that they will be on time, or that game data or broadcast information will be correct or complete. Some laws don't allow these exclusions; where that is the case, they apply to the extent the law allows.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, opportunity or enjoyment, including missing the end of a game, a lost wager or a missed deadline, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, however caused. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (which, for a free service, is nothing) and US $50. Some laws don't allow these limits; where that is the case, they apply to the extent the law allows.

13. Your responsibility for misuse

If your misuse of the Service or your breach of these terms leads a third party to make a claim against us, you agree to cover the losses, costs and reasonable legal fees that result.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you have a problem with the Service, email us first at jasonamcdermott@gmail.com: most things can be settled with a conversation, and we ask that you give us 30 days to try before taking any formal step. Any claim that remains goes to the courts of the State of New Jersey, United States, except that either of us may bring a qualifying claim in small claims court.

15. Changes to these terms

When we change these terms, we post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change is material, we also email the address on your account before it takes effect. Using the Service after the new date means you accept the new terms; if you don't, delete your account.

16. General

  • These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
  • If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
  • If we don't enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later.
  • We may assign these terms to a successor who takes over the Service; you may not assign them.
  • We send notices to the email address on your account. You reach us at jasonamcdermott@gmail.com.
